Alicia Keys & Co.

^^Drake on background vocals^^

Well....I'm not completely disappointed in these songs because I feel like in order to get the true feeling/meaning from the songs that we've heard from this album so far, you have to hear the whole cd.  That's the vibe I'm gettin. With that said, standing alone, these songs are a little lackluster. Unthinkable is nice to just chill to but that's it, it doesn't do anything for me, after listening to the album this song fits perfectly and really takes you somewhere. Put It In A Love Song definitely got my foot tapping. I do feel like A. Keys might have stepped out of her comfort zone a little too much though...but Beyonce sounds good because well she's Bey lol.
Anyway, The Element of Freedom is due out December 15!

*UPDATE* If you love a good, smooth love cd then GET THIS!

Bad Bad Bad

I'm not all the into Gucci but this is a hot one.
Keyshia Cole sounds nice over the beat...by the way she's pregnant!
Aaaannnyyyway I think this would make a nice single.
The State vs Radric Davis is due out December 8th

I Gotta Pocket Full of Dreams

This record is just sooo FLY.
That. Is. All.

H&M

I have that blue shirt...it's pretty fly
H&M have caught the holiday bug and are in the process of revamping their website and stock. Beginning yet another campaign season, Sean O’Pry and Jon Kortajarena lend their talents to new features and product looks.
Check for more after the jump

Alicia Keys

Empire State of Mind (Part II)

She took this song to a completely different level! Definitely a good look...of course the original is always the best version.
The Element of Freedom is due out December 15th...

...Speaking of the album it's confirmed that she and Beyonce finally did a song together!  Also you can check the tracklisting for album after the jump...

Video Phone

Take notes...

...And all other female artists may now take a seat...
In the words of Lowkey "Jay-Z won" lol
Before people say she's being too raunchy...u fail.
That is all.

Official

Thank God...this is so much better! That is all.

Phones Galore

I don't have time to state an in-depth opinion, but I will say that I like both of these songs. Two artists at the top of their game...whether you like it or not...these females are on their grind and not too many artists can keep up with them. With that said here's the links for their collabos

Lyfe Jennings

He's back with a new single for his upcoming album Sooner or Later. He had some other lackluster singles for this project but this is the Lyfe Jennings I like to hear. Hopefully it'll hit the radio soon cause he's another true artist that I don't think gets the shine he deserves.Anyway, check it out below for yourself!

Attention Deficit

When I say this album is good I don't think I'm doing it any justice
Wale, in my opinion, is a true artist
There's honestly something for everybody on the album because he gives such range of topics...
My favorite tracks are: Mirrors, 90210, Let it Loose, TV in the Radio(<<<that one is crazy), Shades, Contemplate, Diary, and Beautiful Bliss...but of course all the songs on the album are good.
Go out and get this album, it's definitely worth it!

The Element of Freedom

So this is Alicia's new album cover...I'm kind of perplexed...
I don't dig the head thing, but I do like the artistic creativity of the pciture as a whole
...I guess the element of freedom is doing what pleases you and being satisfied with that...I digg that

*Update* According to her(Alicia Keys) twitter this is not the official album cover. Hopefully the next one is a lot better...I'm just sayin...

Dreamin in French

What's with the French trend??? First Jamie now Robin....ah well I'm feelin it

Meiple,
Imma treat ya like a lady
you can be my pretty baby,
we can spend all my money baby,
cheek to cheek girl, meiple
imma treat you just like a lady
you can be my pretty baby
we can spend all my money baby

Quote It

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
~ Steve Jobs

Speak French

Very fly new song from Jamie Foxx ft. Gucci Mane (Prod. by Bangladesh)

Diddy's back with season 2 and I'm all for it!
Last season was BANANAS in my opinion so I'm expecting big things this time around
Just from the trailer I know I'm gonna be hooked
my favorite line: "Anybody can get it in this b!**h"

Chrisette ft. Wale and Vice Versa

The video for Fragile (Remix), from two of my favorite artists, was finally released!
I thinks it's a very good look!
Please support real artists...Chrisette Michele is a beast and Wale is definitely on the come up.
By the way...on November 11th make sure you pick up Wale's album Attention: Deficit...it is a great album. One of my favorite songs is Shades, it's also features Chrisette Michele...listen to it here.

"From a light skin girl/to a dark skin brother/shade doesn't matter/heart makes the lover"

What Can I Say

I love a good coat! This collection from Martyn Bal gives so much diversity and choice
I don't know which is my favorite...very good look.

Empire State of Mind Video

BANANAS. DOPE. FLY. ILL.
The song was hot before but this video just put it on an entirely different level for me.
Hype Williams did a great job directing it...
Jay kills it like always...
Alicia "Thick in the Hips" Keys looks good...
and I don't know what else to say...
*Looks for competition*....C'mon son stop kiddin yourselves

Job well done.
That is all.

Shinichi Maruyama

Check how BANANAS the pictures are...

.
...I want these in my house asap lol
But seriously Shinichi Mauayama did an amazing job...make sure you check out more of the artwork here.

Eat 'Em Up Nicki

Her animations crack me up tho!! lol

And of course I can't knock my brethren from Jerzii...Joe Budden did his thing 2...not that I'm surprised.

Cover Art

The 'Rated R' cover was shot by famed photographer Ellen von Unwerth, who says that "Rihanna was looking to create something a bit new for the look of the album."

BOOM!!

  POW!!

That is all.

I Can Transform Ya/Ain't Chu You

The highly anticipated video for Chris Brown's "I Can Transform Ya"
I actually digg the song and I'm not disappointed by the video
It is what it is I guess.

LOL!! This is one of my new favorite songs from the one and only Mike Epps called "Ain't Chu You"
...I don't even know how to really respond...

Say Something Baby...

This is it for me right now! Tim & Drake did their thing on this one!
Click the link below duh!

Just Take It All In

Check out our First Lady Michelle Obama as hosting a "Healthy Kids Fair" to introduce fun activities and healthy eating to about 100 parents and kids on the South Lawn of the White House. She even participated in the games herself! She never disappoints me!

[TPM]

Oh So Precious

So the cast of the movie Precious is featured in the latest issue of New York Times magazine! You can read the article and what director Lee Daniels had to say Here. It's quite interesting....very honest you could say.

Great shots! Mo'nique just had to show off the new body huh? I digg tho lol

Is anybody else as excited about this movie as I am??? I mean really, have you seen the previews??? It has already won several awards and has gained a lot of recognition, and there's also some Oscar buzz!! The lead actress Gabourey Sibide is so not the ordinary lead actress, and that's why I'm so excited about it because she's dark-skinned, she's thick, and she IS the average female. And Mo'nique?!?! From the looks of the previews she does her thing! So I'm ready. It will be out in limited theaters next month...make sure you go and see it.

[Concrete Loop]

H.A.T.E. U

Check out this performance of H.A.T.E. U by Mariah Carey.

The song is from her new CD Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, which is actually quite good...minus that out of place song Obsessed.
BANANAS.

She's BAAACK...I Guess...

Soooo the "long awaited comeback" of Rihanna has finally arrived...I guess lol
Click the link below DUH!
I don't know, Russian Roulette is a nice song, but I'm not really feeling it as a single.
It just doesn't feel like it has #1 potential, I'm just saying...
She does show off her "vocal abilities" though, as she did in Unfaithful so that's a plus...right?
The cover art for the single is on point. So..... it is what it is.
Her new album entitled Rated R  should be in stores November 23rd.

A. Keys

Definitely not my favorite Alicia Keys song by far, but the video looks good and Miss Keys looks amazing!
Of course this is the first single from her upcoming CD "The Element of Freedom" which is due to hit stores December 1st.

Addiction

One of the best shows I have ever seen.
If you haven't seen it yet, then you are truly missing out because it gives you everything plus more.
It's 6th season premiered tonight(10/14) so please watch it.
It's kind of a big deal. It's kind of amazing.
That is all.

New Music

This is nice!
I kinda pushed him aside with that last so-called album...but I'm feelin this one!
Well-done Mr. Thicke

I wasn't really checkin too much for this guy anymore but I like this song.
Maybe I will look out for his new album...emphasis on maybe lol

And The Winner Is....

President Obama???
So apparently, President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize!
Here's what committee(Norwegian Nobel Committee) chairman Thorbjoern Jagland had to say:
"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future."
He is only the third sitting U.S. President--Theodore Roosevelt won in 1906 and Woodrow Wilson won in 1919--to win such an award. A lot of people are kind of confused because they don't think he deserves it, saying he hasn't really done anything....
Maybe he hasn't done what they want him to do, but he's done what he could and that's all we ask of him...he's not a magician people lol. Besides, what other President has inspired the world to do and be better, what other President gave the youth hope(especially the black youth), and what other President has opened the door to topics such as race??? He's done a lot, but of course in our society he will never do enough....that's sad. But to stay positive I just want to tell my President CONGRATUALTIONS!!!

Can't Get Away From It

I know I said I was tired of black/gray clothing but sometimes it's just what I need. Take this collection by Gianfranco Ferre...BANANAS. Each jacket, that suit, those sweaters...they need to be in my closet asap.

{Mens Rag}

Guilty Pleasure

I've only seen the first episode but I'm already hooked! Sherri's a very funny woman!
Definitely check it out

Usher- Papers

"I know it’s you I love, but I also know it's you I don’t like.." lol
Okay I can get with this one Mr. Raymond! Clearly directed towards Tameka, he kinda goes in without going too far. Good stuff. His album Raymond vs. Raymond (previously Monster) is said to hit stores December 8th.
Hopefully it will be better than the last album...I'm just saying.

Sunday Inspiration

"If the Lord never does anything else for me, He's done enough..."

Rihanna/Solange

These two are some very fly young ladies...always bringing it in their own unique way. What more could one ask for?

Ladies take note please.

Ignorance Is Still Bliss!

I've stated it before and I'm stating it again: RACISM STILL EXISTS. Have we made progress? Of course, but not enough. This is evident is the protests against President Obama the government. It's sad that people can walk around with degrading signs of the current President and they are grouped as simply "a few crazy people." Huh? If I recall correctly, when Bush was in office anything said against him was wrong and people were seen as unpatriotic and/or anti-United States. What's the difference now? Why aren't certain people, *cough*Republicans/Conservatives/some Independents*cough*, saying how disrespectful it is now?
.........Oh I know because these people are merely expressing their opposing viewpoints, right? WRONG. Most of these people are racist. You know it, I know, and I'm sure they know it. Just call it what it is because this whole "they just disagree with his political viewpoints" is nonsense. They see an intelligent black man and it scares them because it's new and it's different. Privileged people don't have a problem when another privileged person is in charge and is changing things, but once a person from the minority group takes control and begins to change things, there's a problem. We need to address it instead of trying to downplay it. I'm not saying that every opposing viewpoint stems from racism becasue I don't agree with President Obama all of the time either, but much of it is. As long as we keep pushing it to the side and sweeping it under the rug nothing will ever get solved, period.

Moving on, outside of government, we need to start actually listening to each other, especially when it comes to racial issues. In my diversity class for psychology, we watched a documentary about a small group of diverse people (5 people of color and 4 whites) coming together and speaking their truths. The Latino and one of the White men got into a heated discussion; the Latino man stopped and asked the White man if he(the White man) could repeat what he(the Latino man) just said, the White man couldn't do it because he wasn't listening, he was just hearing. We are so consumed with our own thoughts and getting our own points across that we miss out on the importance of what another person is saying to us. People of color have been trying to explain the hurt and the pain of living in a world of oppression for years, but too many white people aren't listening, they hear us, but they're not listening to meaning of our words. And when they hear us, they want to flip it, push it right back on us, and then try to explain to us why we feel a certain way. How does that help anything? A Black woman--from the documentary--discussed the importance of simply sitting with someone and letting them experience their emotions and feeling it with them because at the end of the day we don't need you to explain why we're feeling a certain way, we know why...YOU DON'T. Try living outside of yourself for a minute and think about how we must feel when we try to state our truth and all you can tell us is to "stop complaining" or try to come up with some erroneous explanation as to how it's our fault we get treated this way. PAUSE. It is 2009 and we are still trying to get our point across, obviously we have some serious issues that aren't our fault.

Will we ever live in a world free of racism? Not as long as people continue to close their eyes to blatant acts of it. Not as long as people continue to say nothing. Not as long as we remain entangled in our own selfish thoughts and feelings. If we can begin to listen to the true meaning and emotions behind words, then there's a chance. If we can learn to stand up to ignorance, then there's a chance. If we can finally understand that at the end of the day we are all human beings and deserve respect for that simple fact, then maybe. But right now, is seems like too many people are enjoying their blissful ignorance for anything to really change in a significant manner.

Racism is still a big deal. It's a reality and we have to do something about it.

Can We Do Better Please?

A young man by the name of Derrion Albert was killed...beaten to death by gang members. I won't go into detail because it sickens me and because you can find it all over the internet. I do have questions though:
Why are our young black men so angry with each other? Why is it so easy to beat someone to death and just walk away? Why has gang violence been an issue for so long? Why do I feel like nothing is changing?

It pisses me off because I feel like we, as a society, aren't taking the necessary steps to stop this type of hatred. We aren't encouraging the younger kids to do and be better. It seems like all they know is pain, and I can understand that...I might not know their exact pain, but I know pain, pain that lingers in your soul, pain that just doesn't go away, damn near suicidal pain, I've been there....but I knew there was more out there for me; it seems like they don't know that. It seems like they're hurt so much that they don't care about life anymore, and that, that should hurt us. I can't even place blame on anyone for something like this, because I blame us all. Are we failing our youth, our teenagers? Are we not setting our expectations high enough? I know we're not. We can't be bringing our "A" game because if we were stuff like this could not and would not happen. We have to do better because I'm tired of hearing about what colors you can/can't wear in a certain places; I'm tired of hearing about who's block this is and who's got that block; I'm tired of hearing about how the white people don't treat us right when we don't treat ourselves right. It doesn't make sense...it never did and it never will.

We have to learn how to support each other because if we don't no one else will. Instead of throwing up your fist every time someone looks at you wrong, try shaking someone's hand, try being friendly, try smiling. We have to look in the mirror and own whatever reflection we see; if we don't like that reflection, it's up to us to change it and make it better. There is no need to be so angry that we feel the need to tear each other down. Life is priceless. Even when it seems like the world is against you, Thank God that you have a life to live!

Keep Derrion's family in your thoughts and prayers.
